PETROLEUM CONTRACTORS TRADE SECTION
of the Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry

Background

Uniting the Industry Leaders for a Safer and Stronger Nigeria.

In January of 1956, Nigeria drilled its first successful well at Oloibiri. With the completion of that first well, the roots of the Contractor Community who would construct, provide service and grow the Nigerian Oil Industry, were established.

As a result of the multitude of diverse disciplines associated with these individual companies, a coherent and synergetic focus on issues of importance has often been wanting. Opportunities where our industry could have pooled resources to make meaningful contribution to our industry, and the Nation at large, have often been missed due to this disconnection.

The Petroleum Contractors Trade Section (PCTS) of the Lagos State Chamber of Commerce was inaugurated in July of 2008 to address this issue. Through this venue the Oilfield Service and Contracting companies now have a conduit to develop beneficial synergies within our industry and the Nation. The members of our group are acting in a non-profit capacity to provide benefit to the society and our industry.

The targets of the Trade Section are based on need, but primarily focus on issues of Safety, Security, Viable Legislation and Corporate Responsibility. All activities of the Trade Section are carried out in conjunction with the Lagos State Chamber of Commerce and Industry under a full transparency doctrine. We are a contributing partner in the progress of the Nation and are confident that our organization will be a major influence on positive growth and development. Working together, we can all make a difference.

Our Mission and Values

Petroleum Contractors Trade Section (PCTS) is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide benefits to the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry, as well as local communities. Our goal is to achieve this through the non-profit synergies of our members and engagement of stakeholders to create value for all.

At the core of our organization are three success pillars: Engagement, Relevancy, and Advocacy. By engaging our members and stakeholders, we ensure that their voices are heard and that they play an active role in shaping the future of the industry. We strive to remain relevant in an ever-changing landscape by staying up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies, and by adapting to new challenges as they arise. Through advocacy, we work to promote the interests of the industry and its stakeholders, both locally and internationally.

Our behaviors are guided by three key principles: Commitment, Collaboration, and Service Focus. We are committed to achieving our mission and goals, and we hold ourselves accountable for our actions. Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do, as we believe that working together is essential to achieving success. Finally, we are service-focused, recognizing that the ultimate goal of our organization is to provide value to the industry and the communities we serve.

Through our work, PCTS is dedicated to creating a sustainable and prosperous future for the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry and its stakeholders.
